Tai Chi Massage Workshops

Tai Chi Massage devotes time to the body therapist by using Tai Chi principles to help with biomechanics, posture, breath and mental focus.  Tai Chi Chuan, an ancient Oriental system for self-defense and health maintenance, can be a beneficial approach to better balance, coordination, increased joint flexibility and strength.  It is helpful for all types of activities but is especially good for administering massage therapy efficiently and without strain at the therapy table.  The slow and fluid movements help the therapist to focus on delivering a more intentional, effective and creative massage. Students trained in the Tai Chi Massage course report back with positive remarks on how helpful the body awareness has been in their practices and other daily activities.

 Included in the workshop:

·        An introduction to Tai Chi principles and movements

·        Experiential exercises to illustrate concepts of chi, yin, yang, breath, grounding, sensitivity, tendon strength, and others

·        Demonstration and practice of a Tai Chi form

·        Demonstration and practice of Tai Chi Massage at the massage table

Please wear comfortable clothing and flexible shoes.  For the hands on massage portion please bring tables, linens, lotions and oils.  This course will be geared toward your needs and situations as a therapist, so bring your questions and have some fun, too!

You will receive a handout and a certificate of completion. This course is approved by NCBTMB (National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork)  Category A  for 12 hour educational credits
